"Dong! Dong! Dong!" "Come on! Come on!"... Pushing forward with paddles to welcome the Dragon Boat Festival against the waves on the river. On June 10, the "Enjoy Our Dragon Boat Festival in Yunlong" Folk Culture Activity of Dragon Boat Race kicked off, and 27 dragon-boat racing teams paddled in the rain.
The Dragon Boat Race was guided by the United Front Work Department of the CPC Yinzhou District Committee, the Yinzhou District Civilization Office, the Yinzhou District Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, Film, Tourism and Sports, hosted by the People's Government of the Yunlong Town, undertaken by the Yunlong Town Cultural Station, and the Yunlong Town Dragon Boat Culture Association, and assisted by the Ningbo Liangye Electric Appliances Co., Ltd..
What is different from that of previous years is that this year's dragon boat race is divided into three competitions, namely the national standard small dragon boat race, the national standard big dragon boat race and the traditional painting boat race. In addition to the national standard big dragon boat race, which is participated by 9 racing teams from the town and subsidiary villages and communities in the Yunlong Town, and the traditional painting boat race, which is participated by 12 racing teams from villages and communities in the Yunlong Town, also specially invited 6 teams, including the Kuer Dragon Boat Team of Cixi Longshan Middle School, the Dragon Boat Team of Zhenkai Group, the Dragon Boat Team of Yinzhou District People's Hospital Medical Community, the Dragon Boat Team of Yunlong Town Middle School, the Yunqing Dragon Boat Team of Yinzhou Vocational Education Center, and the Ningbo International Dragon Boat Team to participate in the national standard small dragon boat race. The event also invited more than 100 people from various democratic parties, non-party members, members of the Association for NGO Cooperation, people of different ethnic groups, and united front organizations in the Yinzhou District to enjoy the competition on-site. "We love sports and Chinese traditional culture very much. We are honored to have the opportunity to participate in Yunlong's Dragon Boat Race this time to experience the passion and charm of Dragon Boat Race with everyone here, and we are looking forward to participating again next year," said Luis Chong, the leader of the Ningbo International Dragon Boat Team.
With the starting sound, dragon boats dashed out like dragons, cleaving through the waves and rushing towards the end. "I only joined the Dragon Boat Team in the village last year. This is the first time to participate in the race on behalf of the village. I am very nervous but excited. We are all working together, and this is really exciting." Yang Shunjiang, a member of the Dragon Boat Team from the Xudongdai Village, Yunlong Town, said excitedly after finishing the race.
During the race, a Dragon Boat Festival Market, gathering intangible cultural heritage customs and traditional snacks, was also bustling with people. Activities such as making small pouches filled with fragrant herbs and experiencing the Dragon Boat Festival's customs of expelling five poisonous vermin attracted numerous tourists.
